Shweta Baid is an independent businesswoman, educator, community leader, and proud resident of Aurora’s 10th Ward.
Holding a Bachelor of Science and dual Masters in English, and in Computer Science, Shweta is a strong believer in the transformational power of education to improve the lives of everyday Americans.
Prior to moving to Aurora, Shweta taught math and computer science at New Jersey City University. As an Aurora resident, Shweta volunteered throughout Indian Prairie School District 204, including Watts Elementary; Hill and Still Middle Schools; Metea Valley, Waubonsie Valley, and Neuqua Valley High Schools; where she has instructed on Art Awareness and STEM Projects; and has lectured on World Religion at Waubonsee College.
As a volunteer, Shweta supported numerous PTA events, including the Reflections Program, Cultural Intervention, and PTA Fundraiser.
Shweta serves on the board of Aurora’s Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board, founded to preserve the heritage and promote the contributions of Indian Americans through civic engagement intended to increase the involvement of the Indian American community in the future and growth of Aurora.
As sole proprietor of an information technology, analytics, and data science firm, Shweta consults for various businesses, including BMO Harris and Chase banks, where she led interdisciplinary teams in across the US and in Canada.
An accomplished artist, Shweta has presented her work at schools, libraries, the Naperville Art League, and notably, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Wentz Hall. Her work has received several awards and recognitions like “Best of Show,” where she has exhibited. Shweta’s passion for artistic expression continues to drive her community involvement, as she is currently motivating Ward 10 residents to participate in artistic activities and conducting online art classes to help individuals and families positively express and cope with stresses brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shweta is passionate about helping our youth to become more involved in volunteering for our community. As a natural community leader with a proven record of getting things done, she has organized a number of community events for people of all ages to volunteer and participate in.
Shweta is married with two children and calls the Lehigh Station neighborhood of Aurora home.
